ETHOS

At Brooklyn Bandit, we believe in being transparent with our customers. This is why we make our brand ethos clear in our four core values, which are the pillars of our company.

Quality

We take pride in exclusively partnering with small, family-owned European ateliers who employ the very best craftswomen and craftsmen. Both we and our artisans believe in producing in small batches, taking the time and attention needed to handcraft high-quality pieces. Our Winter 22 collection, for example, was entirely produced in the Porto region of Portugal by a small, woman-owned factory.

We spare no cost when it comes to materials and components: we use premium European leather for our outsoles, uppers, and linings. At the core of our company, you will find a carefully considered product creation process that values artisanry above all. Our goal is to offer you well-made pieces that are unique yet timeless, and that can be treasured as part of your permanent wardrobe.

Slow Fashion & Sustainability

We are proud to be an ethical fashion brand that is part of the slow fashion movement. We value quality over quantity, ethics and environment over the bottom line, and timeless style over temporary fashion trends. We only create a handful of styles per year and produce them in very limited quantities so that the pieces are as high-quality as possible.

Sustainability is a main tenet of our business and is embedded in everything that we do, including our production process and packaging. Our materials are sourced from top-rated European tanneries that adhere to the strictest environmental and manufacturing standards. We use vegetable-dyed leathers when possible and avoid using non-eco-friendly chemicals. Any material that we don’t use is then donated to eliminate waste completely.

Brooklyn Bandit packaging consists of naturally dyed cotton dust bags and FSC-certified shoe boxes and tissue paper, which use responsibly harvested paper. To limit unnecessary travel and reduce our carbon footprint, we operate as a remote-first company, meaning that remote work is our default.

Fair Business

We are a family-owned and funded business. We work exclusively with European ateliers, whose artisans receive fair wages in good working environments.

We prioritize partnerships with small businesses and freelance talent, most from within our own community to help it thrive. For example, we hired local talent in Brooklyn, NY including our legal counsel, accountants, photographers, stylists, and video editors as part of our Winter 21/22 launch, with the goal of supporting our local community.

Giving Back

At Brooklyn Bandit, we love dogs, which is why we donate 1% of our proceeds to dog shelters across the country. Our family is lucky to have been adopted by an adorable puppy – aka Brooklyn Bandit’s CEO, and we want to help other dogs find their forever families.
